Candidate Visibility in Summer

Many candidates seem to disappear in the summer. Maybe they needed a break after the June primaries. Maybe they are just not engaged.

I have been very busy, all summer! After visiting with neighbors exiting the primary polls on June 13, thanking them for exercising their voting right and reminding them I am already on their November ballot, I found quite a bit more to do.

In June we hit our 400th Like on the campaign Facebook page, thanks to being ever-present with a post about current issues I think our neighbors care about. I also hit the air, with an interview on The Old Dominion Libertarian Radio Network, with Joe Enroughty and friends. My wife, also ever-present, visited Town Point Park for PrideFest 2017 with me, and toured the new Waterside District. We witnessed the ribbon cutting at the beautiful Norfolk Premium Outlets and visited with CEO Stephen Yanof, Norfolk elected officials, Miss Virginia and several friends (and of course did plenty of shopping!). I finished up June on the air again. It was my pleasure to join AM790 WNIS's Tony Macrini's Morning News Team Thursday, June 29th. If you missed the show, you can hear several clips from both interviews on the Videos tab.

We kept going strong in July, back at Town Point Park celebrating 241 years of Independence at the July 4th Fireworks, visiting the Wards Corner festival celebrating Norfolk Naval Station's 100th Anniversary, and answering questionnaires from various organizations (you can see links to my responses on the Issues tab), and even enjoyed my birthday downtown interviewing with a panel from the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation as they consider candidate endorsements.

August is here, and we kicked the month off right, supporting Norfolk's National Night Out at Tarrallton Park. What a great night of Community, visiting with neighbors and Norfolk’s finest; from many in our emergency services and the Nightingale helicopter, to the elected officials in attendance. We even reconnected with some friends we hadn’t seen in years!

As you can see, I take this 89th District House of Delegates seat seriously. The best way to know what is important with the neighbors you plan to represent is to visit with them, early and often.
